In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, he stated that he had changed his name to the moniker BOHNES and would be releasing a "dark wave-inspired album" sometime in 2016. The radio was founded by Rylan Stewart on November 30, 2015 in Burnsville, Minnesota. The radio station caters towards both commercial and non-commercial pop punk, melodic hardcore, power pop, post-hardcore, and pop rock music. 

===Background===

Spark Radio was launched through Apple Music at 10:00AM Central Pacific Time on Monday, November 30, 2015. The radio station was founded by 21 year old college student Rylan Stewart. The idea behind the radio station's launching was the motivation of making pop punk music relative, popular, and easy to access. Stewart initially launched the station independently on April 30, 2015 under the name Spark! Radio, however was taken down six days later. 

Upon the station's launching, Stewart and Spark Radio became wildly popular through Twitter and other social media sites. Alternative Press, Tilly's, Vans, Hot Topic and Billboard reported about the station's launching on the same day. The first son aired on the radio station was "I Don't Like Who I Was Then" by pop punk band The Wonder Years. The station's webhosting site manages a request line through a chat room and email service and, to date, the most requested song is "Misery Business" by rock band Paramore. 

===Charts===

The radio station launched its own chart database curated through the Direct Selling Association (DSA). It was first launched on December 5, 2015. The first number-one song was "Save Me A Spark" by rock band Sleeping With Sirens.
