Kelly [[commander|commanded]] the [[International Space Station]] (ISS) on [[Expedition 26]]. Kelly's [[identical twin]] brother, [[Mark Kelly]], is a former astronaut. The Kelly brothers are the only [[siblings]] to have both flown in space.<ref name="Twins in Outer Space"/><ref name="NASA-bio"/>

Kelly's first [[spaceflight]] was as [[Astronaut ranks and positions|pilot]] of [[Space Shuttle Discovery]] during [[STS-103]] in December 1999. This flight was to help repair the [[Hubble Space Telescope]], and lasted for just under eight days. His second spaceflight was as mission commander of [[STS-118]], a 12-day [[Space Shuttle]] mission to the International Space Station in August 2007.

On October 9, 2010 Kelly began his first long say in space on the ISS. He and his crewmates flew a [[Soyuz (spacecraft)|Russian Soyuz spacecraft]] to the ISS.<ref name=Exp25/>. During this flight, Kelly was a flight engineer for [[Expedition 25]].<ref name=Exp25-landing/> Kelly became the commander of the ISS on November 25, 2010, at the start of Expedition 26. Expedition 26 officially started when the spacecraft [[Soyuz TMA-19]] left the station. This spacecraft was carrying the previous commander of the station, [[Douglas H. Wheelock]] and his crew back to earth.<ref name=Exp26/>

Kelly returned to space in March of 2015, and is currently the Commander of the International Space Station on the [[ISS year long mission|one year mission]].<ref name="jsc.nasa.gov" /> In October 2015, he set the record for having spent more total days in space than any other American astronaut, 382.<ref name="record in space"/>

==Naval career==
Kelly received his commission via the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps ([[NROTC]]) following graduationed from the [[State University of New York Maritime College]] in May 1987.  He was madesignated a [[Naval Aviator]] in July 1989 at [[Naval Air Station Chase Field]] in [[Beeville, Texas]].

He reported tobegan to work with Fighter Squadron 101 ([[VF-101]]) at [[Naval Air Station Oceana]], [[Virginia]], for initial [[F-14 Tomcat]] training. Upon completion of this training, he was assigned to Fighter Squadron 143 ([[VFA-143|VF-143]]) and made overseas deployments to. Here, he began his training flying the [[F-14 Tomcat]]. When Kelly completed his training, he began to work with Fighter Squadron 143 ([[VFA-143|VF-143]]). While he was with Fighter Squadron 143, Kelly made was sent to work overseas in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, and Persian Gulf aboard the aircraft carrier {{[[USS|Dwight D. Eisenhower|CVN-69|6}}]].

Scott Kelly was selected to attend the [[U.S. Naval Test Pilot School]] at [[Naval Air Station Patuxent River]], [[Maryland]] in January 1993 and completed training in June 1994. After graduation, he worked as a [[test pilot]] at the Strike Aircraft Test Squadron, Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division, at Patuxent River, flying the [[F-14]]A/B/D, [[F/A-18]]A/B/C/D and [[KC-130]]F.
