The '''chronicle of Muntaner''' is the longest of the four big chronicles and comprises from the act of engendering James I of Aragon ([[1207]]) until the coronation of Alfons el Benigne (1328). It was written by the soldier and chronicler Ramon Muntaner between [[1325]] and [[1332]].

Muntaner has kept a personal relation with all the kings of the House of Aragon<ref>Ramon Muntaner always refers to the «[[Crown of Aragon]]» or «[[House of Aragon]]» </ref> that were contemporary to him. When writing his work, resorted especially to the [[Historiography|historiographic]] texts for the subjects on the reigns of James I and Pere el Gran (Peter the Great). According to Alfonso Franco his almost exclusive source was his own experience.

The work was written to be read in high voice. Whenever it heads to his ''listeners'', is used to to appoint them like "gentlemen". Muntaner Achieves to establish a direct communication with his viewers. For this uses typical technicians of the juglar like question "''què us diré?''" ("''What will tell you?''") In addition to using an alive and colloquial language. It employs popular expressions and sayings, as well(contracted; show full) standard of the King, and then in each of the other towers another banner and many smaller royal banners.
