The third segment, about 0.1 mile long, begins near El Monte Avenue and ends at Tyndall Street and Giffin Road in Los Altos, California. The total length of all three segments is 5.8 miles. The road was named after [[John C. Frémont]], a former U.S. Senator in California. Both the city of [[Fremont, California]] and [[Fremont High School]] were also named after him.

== Road Description ==
Fremont Avenue begins at El Camino Real in Sunnyvale, California and heads east as a four lane divided road. The road widens to six lanes after Cordilleras Avenue. In Sunnyvale, the road passes bay Fremont High School, the Fremont Union High School District office, a few churches, and Westmoor Village Shopping Center. The road narrows back to 4 lanes after the intersection with State Route 35. After the intersection with Bellevue Way, the road enters the city of Los Altos and narrows to two lanes. Shortly after Grant Road the road becomes an undivided road. When it hits Miramonte Avenue and Foothill Expressway, it turns north, following Foothill Expressway until it terminates at South Springer Road. The second segment of the road begins at Riverside Avenue and ends at Covington Road. The final segment extends from Giffin Road and Tyndall Street and ends near the intersection of Foothill Expressway and El Monte Avenue.
