In 2014, the band signed a recording contract with Columbia Records and released their sophomore studio album, ''Sellouts'', in April and toured worldwide in support of the album. Savages has toured on the Vans Warped Tour and has toured with artists such as Sleeping With Sirens, Issues, The Ready Set, Outasight, We the Kings among numerous others. ===Sound=== Savages debuted its signature sound in 2011 with the release of the debut single "Blackout", which is a dance-pop and synthpop song. Firstly described as a dance-pop and pop rock band by Billboard magazine in October 2011, Savages' sound grew moderately more with the release of its debut album, ''Edge of Heaven''. The album contains elements of both post-hardcore and electronic music, broken down by Metacritic as electropunk, synthpop, dance-rock, and electronic rock. The album's tracks "Sweat It Out", "Get Off Easy", "Waiting", and "Rebirth" features screamo-inspired post-hardcore sounds mixed with electronica and synthpop elements. The album's bonus track "Lauren's Song" was described as an alternative rock song and was hoped to be the new direction Savages was taking. The album's track "Chemicals" was described as a dubstep and hardcore crossover. In an interview with Fuse in 2013, founding member Rylan Stewart spoke about his progression: {{quote|When I first started out, I got signed to a label that was pushing me to pursue a rock-ish sound, which is essentially what I wanted, but the project that I wanted to make went from being music I wanted to work on in the studio like rave, dance, and electro music to music I wanted to perform on stage. Once I was told I was going to tour for this album, I really wanted to incorporate like a screamo-rave vibe to it. But now that I'm free of that label and stuff, I get to start putting my own concrete in my own road so I get to experiment with that EDM sound I wanted to work with in the first place.}} Upon the release of Savages' second studio album, ''Sellouts'', the album was received moderately well by fans and music critics alike, being praised mostly for its range of radio-friendly, melodic pop sound and its too-electronically-produced-for-radio sound. The first track on ''Sellouts'', "Bury Me", was praised for its similarities to that of the first track on Savages' debut album, "Rebirth", being a hardcore-inspired dance-pop song, but without the screaming vocals. The album's title-track "Sellouts" was a cliché tongue-in-cheek play on the band's evolving EDM sound departing from their post-hardcore sound, however the song delves into post-hardcore and screamo influences, and is the only track on ''Sellouts'' to feature that sound. "Sellouts" features screaming and clean vocals from English rock musician Danny Worsnop which helped bring in the hardcore elements to the song. ''Sellouts'' uses elements of R&B and soul music in its track "Chasing Hearts", featuring American recording artist Tyler Carter of Issues. Since 2014, the band has used purely EDM and synthpop elements in their music. Their single "Anywhere But Home", released in June 2015, features a progressive house sound. The single "All I Wanna", released in November 2015, is a dance-pop-inspired song using elements of nu-disco and house music. ⏎ ⏎ ===Members=== '''Current members''' * Rylan Stewart - lead vocals, keyboards, programming, guitar, MPC (2011–present) * Shane Constante - lead guitar, keyboards, programming (2013–present) * Owen Kennon - drums, percussion (2013–present) (contracted; show full)# "Last Night" (featuring The Ready Set) # "Sweat It Out" # "Gone So Long" # "They Say You Won't Come Back" # "Get Off Easy" # "Waiting" (featuring Shayley Bourget of Dayshell) # "Take It Back" # "Chemicals" (featuring Devin Oliver of I See Stars) All content in the above text box is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license Version 4 and was originally sourced from https://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=prev&oldid=5265064.
